Years 5 and 6 walking home from school after an After School Club
As you are aware, children in Years 5 and 6 can walk home from school on their own at 3.15pm if parents have completed a consent form. If your child attends an after school club they must be collected afterwards even if you have given permission for them to walk home on their own at the end of the normal school day.
This has now alerted us to the fact that if a club is cancelled you may not have received the message before the end of school. To ensure that the children are safe we have decided that if your child would normally attend an after school club and it is cancelled, you must make arrangements to collect your child from school at 3.15pm unless you have spoken to the class teacher or contacted the office on the day. Any child not collected will be brought to the office and a member of staff will contact you.
If you have not already done so we would advise that you talk to your child about what they should do if they return home at any time and, due to unforeseen circumstances, you are not there such as to call on a neighbour or return to school.
After School Clubs - Spring Term 2026
Important Note: Clubs may be cancelled at short notice in the event of schedule changes or staff sickness. This especially applies to sports clubs due to the late notice given for inter-school sporting events. We will notify you as soon as possible in this event.
